When we service for termites, we apply a treatment and methodology designed for the long-haul. That’s why our termite treatment service comes with a 5-year warranty. It’s not a spot treatment service. We service the entire perimeter of your structure ensuring all the soil is treated. There are no short cuts to taking down termites – it must be done right the first time.
If you wait too long to tackle a termite infestation, then it may cause severe damage to residential or commercial property structures. Termites eat wood and therefore can damage beams that support structural load. It rarely gets to this point, but as homes and buildings age in the Phoenix Metro, it’s important that we all do our part to keep termites from damaging structures. It very well can come to a point where future generations will inherit such badly damaged properties that they’ll need to be demolished.
People who have moved from other parts of the country where termites are also an issue, may not realize they have a termite problem when they start seeing strange things around their home or property.
The reason for this is in Arizona (and in Phoenix particularly), we have subterranean termites. They are much smaller and behave differently than termites found elsewhere around the United States. If you’re from California, you may be used to seeing termites with wings and are as large as small moths.
By far the strangest thing you’ll encounter when it comes to subterranean termites are mud tubes. You may see strange, thin brown tubes hanging from the ceilings around your home. These are mud tubes. They are created from termite waste and they provide a conduit from their underground colony to various sustenance sources above ground.
Mud tubes can also be seen on the exterior of your home or building. It will look like a brown strain that drips down the side of a wall.
If you have any tools that have wooden handles or shafts, it may look like they are coated in dirt or mud. Oftentimes, it’s a mud tube formed by termites.
You may see plants in your yard with dirt caked on the stems and branches. Those two can be mud tubes. Here’s a great video by abc 15 that goes over what to look out for:
Termites are a year round problem in the Phoenix area. You’ll see the signs listed above in spring, summer, fall and winter.
